I caught this buck feeding up a draw early one morning with about 6 does. I was able to quickly sneak up the next draw over, and get a head of the herd as they were slowly feeding along. I got set up and waited patiently for the deer to feed into sight. I only waited about 10 minutes when the first of the does began to appear; then at the end of the line the buck fed into view. I snapped a few photos as he fed over a hill and into the next draw. It was a beautiful morning and a cool experience, marred only by the fact that as I hiked up the hill into position I crossed two new wheeler trails that were not there prior to this years rifle hunt.

leave a commentThis is a pretty cool looking buck, not very big forks, but pretty sweet! Just wondering…it looks like at the base of the left antler (facing him) there’s a chip from a bullet or something, but I can’t tell. What do you think?
Good eye man. Actually it’s a piece of velvet (we think) that is hanging from that one antler. It seems to be permanently attached at the point where the eye guard was supposed to grow and then hangs down past his eye and forms a pretty good sized clump of dried up velvet.
